Seemed like I was making corrections …all day long today. Sketchbooks are good for this. Doesn’t have to be anything big, this is a small 6 x 8 inch sketchbook. I just make corrections over corrections. The end goal, of course, is to get it right, with the least amount of stress!

Working out a problem on paper, especially if you’re a visual learner, can show you the error of your way pretty quickly. A sketchbook graciously provides you with a private place for uninhibited thinking to find your answers.

I have more than a few notebooks, all for different reasons. Here are some ways you could easily use one:

  • Design a space for a room in your home

  • Plot a garden layout

  • Color charts

  • Sketches

  • Sketchbook Journaling … you know, for documenting the midnight swim on the night of the summer solstice

  • Nature Journals … chart the growth of that cactus!

  • Dream Journal (a favorite)

  • Recipe Journal, great for adding notes!

  • Diary

  • Morning Pages

Sketchbooks are good for all of that!

Would love to hear what you would use a sketchbook for.

  1. I love this idea!! I would like to start journaling this way. I used to write in a diary… for many years…. but this way of journaling is much more interesting! I am not very artistic, but I think it will be fun and I am going to try it.

    • Hi Deena! Glad you love this idea! It’s like mixed media documenting for personal thoughts, or trying out new design colors, or drawing nature shapes, OR making a sketch of your dog’s face! Look for future posts on Sketch Journaling tips and even how to make your own Journal. Awesome that you’re getting reacquainted with your diary. You’re going to have fun with this!
